German payments giant Wirecard declared its bankruptcy, will Payoneer be affected?

release time:2020-06-27 | article source:

Wirecard AG recently announced its bankruptcy. There are some rumors in the market, such as "cash withdrawal on Payoneer is affected" and "need to withdraw cash as soon as possible".

At present, most of Payoneer's cross-border e-commerce customers use virtual bank accounts to facilitate overseas payment. At present, the Payoneer Euro account is completely stable and safe, which is not affected. Payoneer issued Mastercard in partnership with Wirecard Card Solutions Limited, a separate subsidiary of Wirecard AG, which filed for bankruptcy and is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (U.K.). Currently Wirecard Card Solutions Limited, as some accounts are being investigated by the FCA, currently all prepaid accounts, including which in cooperation with Payoneer, have been temporarily frozen and will be released after a short-term FCA investigation.

However, this has no impact on the Euro receivables of Payoneer users. Payoneer's Euro account service is launched in partnership with Wirecard Bank AG, an independent subsidiary of Wirecard. Wirecard Bank AG is a fully licensed compliance subsidiary of Wirecard AG, which is supervised by Bafin. The banking services provided by Wirecard Bank AG are operating normally and will not be affected in the future.
